Violinist Ludwig Balser has already performed as a guest artist on numerous internationally renowned stages. His solo appearances have taken him to venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie and the Tonhalle Zurich. He has also performed at major venues including the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Vienna Musikverein, the Rosengarten in Mannheim, the Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg, and the Victoria Hall in Singapore.
Since September 2024, Ludwig Balser has been the first concertmaster of the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe. From 2022 to 2024, he was a member of the Academy of the Philharmonia Zurich (Zurich Opera House). Prior to that, he was a member of the Academy of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg during the 2021/2022 season.
Ludwig Balser is currently studying with Prof. Andreas Janke at the Zurich University of the Arts. Previously, he studied with Prof. Dora Bratchkova and Prof. Waleri Gradow in Mannheim and Lugano (CH).
In 2017 and 2020, Balser was a member of the LGT Young Soloists and performed with this ensemble in numerous prestigious concert halls across four continents. He also played in the German National Youth Orchestra, where he served as concertmaster and section leader on several occasions. With the orchestra, he made CD recordings for WDR and performed under Sir Simon Rattle as part of the Baden-Baden Easter Festival.
In 2019, his first single, "Méditation" from Thaïs by Jules Massenet, was released as part of the SONY/RCA RED SEAL production of the album Souvenir. That same year, he performed the world premiere of Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata for Piano and Violin, Op. 47 ("Kreutzer Sonata"), in an arrangement for solo violin and string orchestra as part of the Rheingau Music Festival.
In October 2017, he participated in the "RCO meets Europe – side by side" project with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam under the baton of Daniele Gatti at the Berlin Philharmonie.
In the "Jugend musiziert" competition, he won a total of four first prizes at the national level in the categories of solo violin, chamber music, and piano duo.
As a winner of the 26th competition organized by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, Ludwig Balser played a violin by Gand & Bernardel (Paris, 1887) from 2018 to 2021, generously loaned by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. Since 2021, he has been playing a violin by Giuseppe Rocca (Turin, 1843).
